Senior Legal Bookkeeper for well established bookkeeping firm specializing in legal bookkeeping services for law practices, Pickering office.

Job Type: Full Time Permanent.
Compensation: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus benefits.
Regular Work Hours: Regular day time hours, with occasional flexible or overtime hours according to business need.
Work Location: 100% onsite at client’s Pickering office, with periodic onsite visits to client offices within the GTA. There may be an opportunity for remote-work on a hybrid basis in the future, subject to client business needs.
Travel Requirements:  Occasional day time travel to client offices within the GTA.

Responsibilities Summary:
Complete full cycle legal bookkeeping responsibilities for various law firm and legal sector clients, ensuring maintenance of proper documentation procedure throughout.

  • Provide in person bookkeeping and accounting clerical support to law firms depending on needs and workflow including spot audits. 
  • Provide technical support in the set-up of PC law or other accounting software for clients, ensuring personable approach and application of strong skillset to coordinate smooth implementation. 
  • Complete submission of HST and LPIC levies. 
  • Complete payroll and cheque requisition duties including processing of A/R, A/P and tax slips. 
  • Billings and collections services.
  • Additional bookkeeping, financial administration and accounting clerical responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:    
Education:  Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Work Experience:  At least 10+ years of experience in legal bookkeeping services for Law Offices.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:    

  • Advanced proficiency in MSExcel (will be tested), and general strong proficiency in MSOffice applications.
  • Understanding of full cycle AP and AR (may be tested).
  • Established proficiency in one or more legal accounting software applications, including PCLaw, Clio, Ghost Practice, Cosmolex, etc.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, including advanced level business writing skills and professional telephone manners.

Additional Requirements:    

  • Availability to travel for work duties within the GTA as required.  
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends to satisfy client needs.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of position responsibilities.
