Project Manager for provincial government agency client, Etobicoke facility.

Job Type:  Temporary.
Initial Term:  April 22, 2024 to October 25, 2024.
Compensation:  $49.08 per hour.

Regular Work Hours:  FULL TIME HOURS – 7.0 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location:  Hybrid – combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client’s Etobicoke office, with free parking provided. 

Project Manager – Responsibilities Summary:    
Provide project management, control and coordination services to Continuous Improvement and Business Process Re-engineering projects, as assigned.

  • Perform day-to-day project coordination tasks including organizing electronic files, coordinating and attending internal and external meetings, and taking project notes.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
  • Organize and report on identified and assigned tasks, anticipating impacts and seeking means to minimize customer disruption and optimize results.
  • Identify and ensure timely resolution of any design or cost issues, adhering to established budget and schedule restrictions.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to appropriate management channels and escalate as necessary, according to project work plan.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure all internal and external approvals and signatures are obtained, 
  • Additional project management responsibilities as required. 

Project Manager – Qualifications:    
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Project or Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Professional Credentials: PMP certification preferred.
Preferred Work Experience:  At least 2+ years of project management experience.
Preferred Sector Experience: Lean work environment experience strongly preferred.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:  

  • Advanced proficiency in MSOffice Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint (may be tested).
  • Proven proficiency in Project Management software such as MSProject (may be tested).
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, including advanced level business writing skills and verbal presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Lean principles, methodologies and best practices.

  • Advanced organizational, coordinative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively for self and others, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
  • Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References.
