Organizational Development Specialist for provincial government agency client, North York.

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: October 11, 2022 to January 10, 2023, with possibility of additional extension or conversion to direct-hire.
Compensation: $60.00 per hour.

Regular Work Hours: 7 work hours per day, not including unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: Hybrid – 3 days remote-based, 2 days per week onsite at Client’s North York office, on TTC line.  

Responsibilities Summary:    
Provide specialized expertise, leadership, and advisory services on organizational development programs and initiatives in support of organization HR strategies, programs, policies and initiatives.

  • Manage Organizational Development portfolio including development, implementation and oversight programs, services and initiatives to foster excellent performance in organization’s executive, management and staff operational teams.
  • Act as lead HR Consultant on leadership and staff development and learning programs; talent management and succession planning; performance management including 360 Platform Feedback Assessments; employee engagement surveys; wellness strategy; diversity and inclusion; employee recognition and event coordination.  Develop or adapt customized programs or recommend external services to meet specialized business needs.
  • Lead or participate on internal Human Resources Committees, and prepare presentations and briefings for HR Executive Team to submit to Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.
  • Promote internal collaboration and positive working relations on organization’s HR initiatives and projects.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Human Resources theories, principles and best practices, with emphasis on Organizational Development, and knowledge and interpretative understanding of relevant legislation to support strategic business requirements.
  • Additional Organizational and HR program development responsibilities as required. 

Education: Post secondary Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or related field.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 5-7+ years of demonstrated professional experience in providing organizational development advisory services to support strategic business requirements.
Preferred Sector Experience: Professional HR experience within a rapidly evolving organization and unionized environment.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements: 

  • Proficiency with Workday Talent, Performance Management and Learning software or similar HRIS systems.
  • Superior English communication skills, both written and verbal, including expert level business writing skills.

Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:     

  • Subject matter expertise in human resource theories, principles and best practices with a focus on organizational development.
  • Knowledge and interpretative understanding of Occupational Health and Safety, Ontario Human Rights Code, WSIB, Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation impacting on organizational development.
  • Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills; with ability to motivate and engage with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of seniority.
  • Proven ability to respond to sensitive and confidential matters with tact, discretion, and excellent judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
  • Advanced organizational, coordinative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work effectively for self and others, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Pleasant and courteous. Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.  
  • Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.

Additional Requirements:    

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work both remotely and onsite as required, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of full COVID-19 vaccination series prior to assignment start.
  • Satisfactory Background Checks and Employment References.
