General Labourer and Office Clerk for union office client, mid-town Toronto.

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: April 15 2024 to August 30, 2024, with possibility of extension.
Compensation:  From $17 per hour to $19 per hour.
Additional Benefits: Free parking onsite.
Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME HOURS – From 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with 1 hour unpaid lunch break and two paid 15 minute breaks, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location:  100% onsite at client’s mid town Toronto office, near TTC station, and with free parking provided.
Ergonomic Requirements:  In addition to occasional desk work, the position will require continual standing; lifting of mid and heavier weight items to approximately 60+ lbs. that may also be bulky or awkward; bending, crouching, and overhead reaching; loading, pushing or pulling and unloading a cart or dolly; walking across and between floors within the building and to the loading dock; climbing stairs and stepladders; and other ergonomic activities associated with moving furniture, equipment and office supplies. Will be working in an environment that may occasionally be messy, dusty and noisy.
Onsite Dress Code:  Neat Casual, with steel toed shoes or similar approved, sturdy footwear.  

Responsibilities Summary:    
General Labourer and Office Clerk required to assist with moving furniture, office supplies and bankers’ boxes during office renovation project, and to perform a range of clerical tasks.

  • Move and re-shelve boxes of paper and office supplies.
  • Lift and shift furniture across and between floors.
  • Receive and send out materials from the loading dock
  • Clerical office tasks as required, including filing, sorting, photocopying and scanning.
  • Additional, similar facilities support and clerical responsibilities as required. 

Qualifications:    
Education: Highschool Education.
Preferred Work Experience:  Approximately 1 year of work or volunteer experience in a similar role, from an office, store or warehouse facility.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:    

  • General proficiency with office equipment, including printers, scanners, photocopiers, telephones, etc.
  • Knowledge of common office software such as MSOffice, and basic web applications.
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail (will be tested).
  • Satisfactory English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Additional Requirements:    

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to safely meet the ergonomic requirements of the position.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of full COVID-19 vaccination series prior to assignment start, subject to reasonable accommodation per the Ontario Human Rights Code.  
  • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References.
