Financial Assistant for boutique private wealth management client, downtown Toronto

Job Type:  Temp-to-Perm.
Initial Term:  ASAP for up to 12 months, subject to client business requirements.
Compensation: $25 to $28 per hour, according to experience.
Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME HOURS; 8:15 am to 4:15 pm, not including unpaid 1 hour lunch break, Monday to Friday (35.0 work hours per week).
Work Location: 100% onsite at Client’s downtown Toronto office, on PATH, and near TTC station.
Onsite Dress Code: Corporate Dress.

Responsibilities Summary: 
Provide financial administrative support services to senior financial advisor and investment portfolio administration team.

  • Prepare files and financial reports for client meetings, including rates of return, portfolio overviews, and meeting agendas.
  • Perform due diligence on investments in client portfolios; research and analyze new investments, including stocks, mutual funds, and bonds; liaise with mutual fund representatives for information.
  • Monitor client portfolios, in accordance with client’s risk profile and lifestyle requirements.  Review accounts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Input data into financial planning software and review generated plans for accuracy
  • Assist financial advisor with email and newsletter communications to clients, including taking verbal dictation and drafting correspondence for signature. 
  • Receive and respond to client questions and service requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Assist financial advisor at client meetings.
  • Additional financial administrative and portfolio support responsibilities as required.

Education: Post Secondary Degree in related discipline, or applicable combination of work experience and education.
Professional Credentials: Enrollment in or completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC) an asset.
Preferred Work Experience:  At least 1+ years of comparable work experience in the investment industry, in a client-facing capacity.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:  

  • Proficiency in MSWord, Excel and Outlook (will be tested).
  • Strong data entry and typing skills (will be tested).
  • Strong arithmetic skills (will be tested).
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, including expert level business writing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax, and polished, professional telephone manners.

Additional Requirements:    

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References.
