Financial Analyst for provincial government ministry client, downtown Toronto.

Job Type:  Temporary, initial term December 1, 2021 – May 31, 2022, with possibility of extension.
Compensation:  $40.02/hr to $42.38/hr.
Work Location: Combination of remote and onsite work at client’s downtown Toronto location.

Responsibilities Summary:

  • To assist with preparation and amendment of forecasts and ensure accuracy of budget details.
  • Monitoring, analysing and preparing budgets, including forecasts and actuals, funding and payments, budget journals, accurate calendarization of project budgets, and resolution and reconciliation of discrepancies. 
  • Analysis of relevant financial and non-financial information from various sources.  Preparation of financial reports for management approval in collaboration with team.
  • Budget reconciliation, identification and explanation of variances, monitoring of expenditure patterns and trends.
  • Review, monitor and advise on financial matters including financial and performance tracking, budget controls, project costing, expenditures, project budget modifications and reallocations, financial implications and financial performance.
  • Assist in preparation of estimates, financial forecasts, business cases, reports, and submissions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting, ensuring proper controls are maintained. 
  • Additional financial analysis and reporting responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:    

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.  Enrollment in or completion of CPA program an asset.
Preferred Experience:  At least 2+ years of relevant experience in corporate finance, financial planning & analysis, or similar fields.
Technical Skills Requirements:  Advanced proficiency in MSExcel including financial modeling (may be tested).
