Customer Service Representative for Provincial Government client in Downtown Toronto.

Initial Term: 6 month contract.
Compensation: $24.40 to $27.44 hourly.
Work Hours: Alternating schedule of Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday. Weekday hours ranging from 7:30 AM-3:45 PM and 10:45 AM-7:00 PM. Saturday hours are 8:00 AM-4:15 PM and 9:00 AM-5:15 PM.
Work Location: Onsite in Downtown Toronto on TTC line.

Responsibilities Summary:

Working in the Quality Assurance and Customer Service Department, the Customer Service Representative will provide front line customer services and answer inquiries regarding laboratory testing to clients across Ontario.

  • Respond to client inquiries regarding laboratory services; communicate with health care facilities such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, etc.
  • Troubleshoot client issues in accessing test information or specimen collection.
  • Access testing-related information from databases, directories and reference materials; provide test information in a timely matter; record cancellations; investigate new or atypical requests.
  • Over the phone customer service outreach as required; advise clients on the processing and completion of requisitions; answer inquiries regarding navigating the website.
  • Update and maintain client databases.
  • Investigate and resolve incomplete information on sample submissions.
  • Monitor quality indicator data on multiple databases, including reported errors, sample rejection trends, etc.
  • Notify management of trends, potential issues, and complaints or common inquiries.
  • Some administrative duties including maintaining filing systems, retrieving and refiling physical and electronic files, maintaining office supplies, faxing, coordinating equipment maintenance, etc.
  • Additional Customer Service Representative responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma.
Preferred Work Experience: 2+ years of medical laboratory experience.
Preferred Sector Experience: Hospital & Health Care

Technical Skills Requirements: 

  • Computer proficiency and advanced data entry skills (will be tested).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel (will be tested).
  • Experience navigating and managing databases of information.
  • Comfortable using office equipment to print and fax documents.

Task-Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology to address laboratory testing related inquiries.
  • Knowledge of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act as well as the Personal Health Information Protection Act.
  • Strong in person and over the phone customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client service and professional representation of the organization, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
  • Advanced organizational, coordinative and time management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Superior interpersonal skills: excellent listening skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise effectively with diverse stakeholder group; ability to provide and receive professional, effective feedback.
