Construction Project Manager for provincial government agency client, Mississauga.

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: ASAP to November 30, 2025.
Compensation: $70 to $90 per hour, according to experience.
Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME WORK HOURS – 7.0 work hours per day, not including unpaid 1 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).
Work Location: Hybrid – combination of remote and onsite work, with 2 days per week required onsite at client’s Mississauga office.
Travel Requirements: Regular travel to project sites required.

Responsibilities Summary:
To oversee all aspects of construction and renovation projects from initiation to completion, including collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing timelines, budgets, and safety and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, to develop project plans, review specifications, resolve issues, and ensure project requirements are met.
  • Conduct thorough project feasibility studies, including site analysis, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and address any deviations.
  • Manage project budgets, including cost estimation and expense tracking.
  • Coordinate with procurement on bidding, selection, and contract negotiation process with contractors and vendors.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all project stakeholders and provide regular status updates.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor and ensure construction progress, quality, and safety compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and permits.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate potential project disruptions and ensure timely completion.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among project team members.
  • Ensure effective documentation and record-keeping of project activities, including contracts, change orders, submittals, and other project-related documents.
  • Additional project management responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Master’s Degree an asset.
Professional Credentials: Project Management Professional (PMP) designation required. Construction Manager (CM) certification an asset.
Preferred Work Experience:  Approximately 15+ years of proven experience as a Project Manager in commercial renovations and construction.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:

  • Proficient in project management software tools, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong business writing skills and professional verbal presentation skills suitable for a range of audiences.

Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:

  • In-depth knowledge of commercial renovations and construction processes, including design, permits, procurement, and construction management.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and safety standards related to commercial construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Pleasant and courteous: demonstrated commitment to client service and professional representation of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills; ability to motivate and engage with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, at all levels of seniority.
  • Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills. Excellent listening skills, and the ability to provide and receive effective feedback.
  • Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work both remotely and onsite as required, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
