Job Description: 

Freedom of Information Assistant required for a Provincial Government employer. Responsibilities include preparing hardcopy of comments received for proposals which are required for public viewing and anticipated FOI-request purposes. Will be printing a hard copy of all comments (approximate of 20,000+ comments each for 2 proposals). Preparing and organizing binder contents by sorting individual comments and organizations’ comments, categorized by sector. Preparing table of contents/list of all comments received, so that finding the comments within the binder is user-friendly. Redacting all personal information from comments and ensuring the comments meet FOI request requirements. Will be required to attend several meetings to discuss duty expectations, deliverables and method for completing the deliverables (e.g. the  recommended method of binder assembly and binder content organization, and how to find comments in binder). Will present the deliverables for proposals and providing an overview of the binder and how it is organized. Ideal candidate must possess expert knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Possess the ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, policies and procedures to access and privacy issues. Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess strong customer service and negotiation skills.
