Job Description: 

Legal Clerk required for a Provincial Government Agency. Will be responsible for reviewing files to determine pertinent information and case history and informing counsel of relevant details and setting up relevant bring forward systems. Researching files, law libraries for references, citations and statutes to be inserted in legal documents, meeting priority assignments. Researching corporate records, land registry and land titles records, bankruptcy and personal property security records, executions and other investigative resources. Preparing legal documents from precedents or information provided by counsel or from own precedents, e.g. pleadings, factums, notices of motion, affidavits, other legal documents, for use at motions, trials, appeals. Preparing letters, memoranda, reports, and legal documents (summonses, consents, orders, agreements of settlement, affidavits), ensuring adherence to legal style, format and terminology. Updating computer log, tracking court information, docketing time, preparing quarterly and other reports in relation to branch/ministry subrogation files. Maintaining up-to-date record of database and branch library materials. Ideal candidate must possess minimum 1 year of legal experience. Must possess minimum 1 year of Litigation experience. Must possess knowledge of various legal documents. Must possess proficient Microsoft Office skills. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
